Product Overview

Codecademy is a leading online learning platform which offers interactive free coding classes in 9 different programming languages including Python, Java, PHP, JavaScript (jQuery,AngularJS), and Ruby, as well as markup languages HTML and CSS. It has over 24 million users who had completed over 100 million exercises as of January 2014. Codeacademy also offers courses for learning command line and Git. It has partnered with Periscope which added courses to teach SQL. In October 2015, Codecademy has also developed a course on Java programming. Zach Sims and Ryan Bubinski started Codecademy in August 2011. Headquartered in New York City, Codeacademy has raised $2.5 million in Series A funding in October 2011 and $10 million in Series B funding in June 2012. The latest round of funding was led by Index Ventures. Crunchbase reports an additional Series C round of funding for an undisclosed amount, by Bloomberg Beta in June 2013. The site has received positive reviews from the New York Times and TechCrunch. It has won Best Education Startup, Crunchies Awards in 2012 and Skillies Technology Award in 2015
